Youth Information Service
Who we are
The Youth Information Service was officially opened in March 1995. The Youth Information Service is the only one of its kind in County Kildare and is part of the national youth information network and comprises 30 Youth Information Services nationally, which are mainly funded by the Department of Education & Youth.
In Sync Youth Information Service is managed by In Sync Youth and Family Services and administered by Youth Work Ireland.
What we do
The Youth Information Service is an educational process, which aims to empower young people to make informed decision and positive life choices. It is carried out through the provision of a person-centred service.
The Youth Information Service operates as an integrated part of locally based youth services
What we offer
In Sync Youth Information Service provides a free, confidential information service to young people 15 to 25 years of age and those who work with them. The Youth Information Service is non-judgemental and free from discrimination. It operates a one stop shop approach where all the information is available under the one roof. We also support parents/guardians seeking information and support for young people.
Talk to a trained information professional in confidence on a wide range of topics including education, training, employment, accommodation, early school leaving, rights etc.
- Drop into our Youth Information Centre, whether you have a question or just want to have a chat with staff, or simply hang out with friends in a safe space, the youth information staff are on hand to help.

One to one mentoring support based on the needs of young people. For example, young people who may need help in completing online grant applications, CV preparation, interview skills or job hunting. We can help you explore options in education, training, apprenticeships, work or EU opportunities

Eurodesk provides free information on opportunities-such as travelling, working, studying and volunteering in Europe for young people aged 18 – 30

We bring the information service to young people in their own locality such as, schools, clubs and national or local events.
- Multimedia approach to the provision of information to young people on topics & issues that are relevant and of interest to young people

Youth work supports young people by offering personal and social development, education and life skill programmes tailored to individual and group needs, providing social, economic, educational and recreational opportunities designed to encourage social inclusion and life-long learning.

We work with partners nationally and at European level. The Youth Information Service run activities and workshops during the following European events:
- Time to Move is a collection of online and physical events all over Europe during October. The activities are organised by Eurodesk experts who can give you personalised guidance on international opportunities
- European Youth Week creates a space for discussion on topics that matter to young people. It’s also a time to celebrate success stories and to showcase European opportunities for Youth organisations and young people.
European Youth Information Day (ERYICA)
- The European Youth Information Day is a special occasion to raise awareness about the right of young people to access full and reliable information and recognise the work of youth information workers
